Direct Lender Payday Loans in Canada

understanding direct lender payday loans Direct Lender Payday Loans in CanadaThis loan application request came in from Vancouver, and the customer specifically asked for a direct lender payday loan, approved somewhere in Canada. She (Janet) didn’t care which city the lender operated from, as she was applying online. She had some credit issues with a past company and she was told by someone that direct lenders don’t charge as much in fees – we will get into that theory a little more later in this post, but first we have to discuss her online application. In the borrower’s submission in regards to the payday loan you can see that she was requesting $600.

The reason for the loan is also below, which was for repairing a sun-room floor that was found to be rotting due to water/moisture damage. Regardless of the purpose, Janet had to find the cash quickly. She had relatives coming over to stay for a week from Kelowna and Toronto, and she had to get the hole fixed as soon as possible.

Just to get it out of the way – she was approved for the $600 dollars and it was deposited into her account on the same day as the application and approval. The whole process was over lickity split and she was getting the renovations company in to repair her floor the next day. Now we have to discuss the issue of direct lender payday loans. Also, you can disregard the information on the monthly payment limit and DTI because she is applying for a payday loan that had a term of only two weeks.

Direct Lender Payday Loans Vs Brokered Payday Loans

There is allot of misinformation online regarding the difference between direct lender payday loans, and brokered PDLs. A payday loan that has a a broker or referer in the stream is a little bit different than a so-called direct payday loan. The theory on the Internet has always been that you would pay less in fees for a direct PDL, and the people spreading this information have are innocent enough in their spreading of misinformation.

As payday loan broker collects customer leads, pools them, and collects a commission on each converted loan. On top that, their is often an affiliate in the stream of business as well. For example, at BucksforCanucks.com we make a commission for every loan we convert (around $30-$60 dollars USD) and for every 100 customers we send to the actual lenders, the lender converts 1-2 of them. Currently we support MoneyMart, and Dollars Direct in Canada, and we support Ace Cash Express and Great Plains Lending in the United States.

Some of these affiliated lenders are direct lenders themselves, and some are not. We make higher commissions from the direct lenders because they can afford to be more generous. This is why finding direct lenders is more important to an affiliate like BFC than to the actual borrowers and customers. Why? Because the customers pay the standard fees and rates regardless of who is making commissions down the stream of the process.

To give you an idea of how the chain of affiliation works I created a picture to show you below;

  1. First Level = Big Bank Money Brokerage Firms [the actual and true direct lender if you leave out the Fed or the Countries central bank]
  2. Second Level = Small-Medium Sized Banks and Private Financial Institutions
  3. Third Level = The Payday Loan Corporation [whom most people mistakenly think is the “direct lender”]
  4. Fourth Level = The Payday Loan Store Franchises [the lead collectors who bundle leads from the Internet and off the street]
  5. Fifth Level = The Payday Loan Affiliate Lead Collectors(s) [collect 2nd affiliate leads as well]
  6. Sixth Level = The Commission Agent [middleman between lead collectors and affiliates/referrers]
  7. Seventh Level = The Online Affiliate [web masters like me who have blogs or web sites – generally we work alone]

So the real and absolute truth is that no customer anywhere on the planet is getting a truly direct loan from the true source. Never going to happen unless you literally walk down the halls of big finance, and borrow a few hundred bucks from the first person wearing a $4000 dollar suit.

1st level big bank brokerage firm Direct Lender Payday Loans in Canada

1st Level Lender In The  Payday Loan Money Chain

OK – I know….we can go one level higher in the lending chain, and that would be a countries Central Bank, as in the Central Bank of Canada, and in the USA, it’s called the Fed (United States Federal Reserve). All the same game though. They print the money, and the hand it down the line. Nowadays, these central banks have been literally bailing out failing banks. Big banks can borrower directly from the countries central bank as well.

Anyway, for the purposes of the what we CAN SEE in everyday life, the entire payday loan process starts at the top with brokerage houses and big firms. You know – the capitalists working at a frenzied pace on stock exchanges around the world. This picture is of the TSE (Toronto Stock Exchange).

2nd level conventional bank Direct Lender Payday Loans in Canada

2nd Level Lender In The  Payday Loan Money Chain

The second level in the money chain would be the large, medium, and small banks. They lend money down to the payday loan corporations. These are the cash advance companies that you see many franchises in your local city. Payday loan stores are generally found in the downtown core area of most cities in Canada – British Columbia (Vancouver, Victoria, Prince George, Kelowna, etc.), Alberta (Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, etc.), Saskatchewan (Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, etc.), Manitoba (Winnipeg, Brandon, Thompson, Portage la Prairie, etc.), Ontario (Toronto, Ottawa, London, St. Catherines, etc.), Quebec (Montreal, Quebec City, Gatineau, Laval, Lévis, Saguenay).

3rd level medium sized pdl lending corporation Direct Lender Payday Loans in Canada

3rd Level Lender In The  Payday Loan Money Chain

The medium sized corporations will have their head offices in one of bigger Canadian cities and you will never see the actual logo of the payday loan institution on the door. These are parent companies of the payday loan companies you are familiar with – the ones you see advertised on the Internet on on the streets in your city. Generally, payday loan companies only have store fronts in cities – you won’t see them in towns. But wait for it – if consumer spending and consumer lending keeps growing the way it is, we are going to see payday loan stores in small towns as well. Right beside the local bar (watering hole).

These corporations will lend money to all of the payday loan companies whom are centralized to some degree in one of the Canadian Provinces.

4th level payday loan franchise owners Direct Lender Payday Loans in Canada

4th Level Lender In The  Payday Loan Money Chain

The fourth level in the money chain are the payday loan franchises. Yes, you’re right – some of these PDL stores are ALL owned and operated by the central head office because they don’t sell franchise stores. Most payday loan corporation do sell store franchises, and they come with many strings attached (we’ll get into payday loan store franchises at a later date).

Now once a franchise is open for business they need to get leads – THOUSANDS of leads a week preferably. That’s when the payday loan lead collectors come into play.

5th level cdn payday loan lead collecting companies Direct Lender Payday Loans in Canada

5th Level In The  Payday Loan Money Chain

The 5th level are the companies the simply collect leads to be passed up to payday loan franchises, and sometimes directly past the franchises to the payday loan corporation or parent company (#4 and #3 respectively)

6th level payday loan middleman Direct Lender Payday Loans in Canada

6th Level In The Payday Loan Money Chain

The 6th level in the money chain before you get your payday loan approved is the lead generation company. For example, I do business with a lead generation company known as Commission Junction, and they are really just the tracking service between the affliates (like me and my wife). Usually we affiliates have web sites, and we link to the 3rd, 4th, or 5th entity in the money stream. We get a very small commission whenever a payday loan is approved coming from our site(s).

7th level payday loan affliate Direct Lender Payday Loans in Canada

7th Level In The Payday Loan Money Chain

The 7th level is way down at the bottom of the list – these are the payday loan affiliates, and most of us work from home on computers writing content for our web sites. Sites like BuckForCanucks.com. The competition is fierce, and we get paid a small commission whenever a visitor comes to our domain (URL address), clicks an affiliate link, goes to a payday loan store, vendor, company, etc., and actually fills out an online application form and gets approved. We convert about 1-2% of our visitors.

Finding A Direct Payday Loan Lender Won’t Save You Any Real Money

Now here is the rub, the catch, the part you don’t want to hear from me – no matter where you get your payday loan funded from, and even if you actually get approved from the head office of a payday loan corporation, you will be paying close to same fees and APR you pay anywhere else. The only entity in the list that wins when you get a payday loan direct is the PDL corporation – THEY take the skim, the trim, the savings and put it in their pockets – not yours.

The way it works is that the lower down you go the money chain from the direct lender, the less they make – that’s all. The actual corporation usually doesn’t want to be bothered with setting up payday loan storefronts, launching and managing websites, etc., etc.

Personally, I try to discourage people from getting payday loans unless they have no other real option, and they REALLY HAVE TO GET SOME QUICK MONEY. Otherwise, look for other instruments and avenues for getting quick cash.
